Call for local manufacturing not protectionist, says HP

IndiaTimes Sunday, 5 November 2023
HP is optimistic about the Indian government's revised Make in India plans for laptops. CEO Enrique Lores sees the new import policy as an opportunity for aggressive investment and manufacturing expansion in the country, including offering budget devices under $200 or monthly subscriptions of $10. He believes that India's projected growth and low PC penetration make it a significant market. Lores also supports the government's focus on finding "trusted" partners beyond China, stating that cybersecurity is a global need.
