Roy, who preferred to be called a "managing worker," built a business empire that spanned multiple sectors. However, his later years were marked by legal troubles, including a stint in Tihar jail. The Supreme Court had ordered his detention in connection with a dispute with the Securities and Exchange Board of India. Roy had been admitted to hospital on November 12 due to a decline in his health.
