Government re-imposes restrictions on solar module imports to boost local manufacturing

The government has reinstated restrictions on solar module imports to promote local manufacturing, requiring developers to purchase from an approved list. Domestic capacities are now sufficient to meet demand, with projected growth by 2026. Exemptions for advanced projects were not detailed. India aims for 150GW module and 75GW cell capacity by 2026.
