3 more states join 'One Nation One Ration Card' scheme: JP Nadda
Saturday, 1 August 2020 () BJP chief JP Nadda on Saturday said that three more states - Manipur, Nagaland, Uttarakhand - along with the UT of J&K have joined the 'One Nation One Ration Card' scheme of the Centre. Nadda congratulated PM Modi and Union minister Ram Vilas Paswan for the move. Paswan had earlier said that this facility had been started in 12 states in the country.
Facing a probe in the Sushant Singh Rajput death case, Rhea Chakraborty has now broken her silence over the allegations. She said that she has absolute faith in God and the country's judiciary. She also lashed out at the media and said that she has refrained from commenting on the advice of her lawyers. Meanwhile, Sushant Singh Rajput's relative alleged that the Maharashtra police is not sincerely probing the case and said they have no faith in them. The actor's kin said that all they have done till now is mere formality and they want to brush the case under the carpet. This even as the Enforcement Directorate lodged a money laundering case in the actor's death case based on the FIR filed by the actor's father. The chorus for a CBI probe into the case is also growing with each passing day. Now, Union Minister Ram Vilas Paswan has also sought a CBI probe into the case and said that Chirag Paswan had even raised the issue with the Chief Minister of Maharashtra Uddhav Thackeray. BJP leader Uma Bharti said that she will skip the 'bhoomi poojan' event in Ayodhya. The BJP leader tweeted that she is leaving for Ayodhya from Bhopal and she is afraid that she may come into contact with some Covid positive person. She added that she would not like to endanger PM Modi or any other person at the event. She said that she has informed the temple trust authorities and also the PMO that she would not be attending the bhoomi poojan event and would offer her prayers after PM Modi and others leave the spot. The former Union Minister said that she has been especially worried after news of Amit Shah and other BJP leaders tested positive for Covid on Sunday. Massive preparations are underway in Ayodhya for the foundation laying ceremony of the Ram Temple on August 5th. PM Modi and 200 other people are expected to attend the event. Grape farmers of Kashmir's Ganderbal are getting benefits of Centre's various schemes. Because of these schemes production of grapes has increased and profits are likely to go up. Ganderbal district is famous for its grape but in recent time farmers suffered due to incorrect methods. Department of Floriculture took cognizance is providing assistance. After getting Union Territory status Jammu and Kashmir's agricultural development gained momentum.
With an aim to boost the higher education sector, the UT of Jammu and Kashmir is expanding the infrastructure of the Govt. Degree College Ganderbal in central Kashmir. Construction of an auditorium, new classrooms and an additional library is underway at the college. Earlier, the students had to face several issues while organising any event due to the absence of an auditorium. Now that the construction is going on, they expressed their happiness over the new projects which will also facilitate more students with new classrooms being built. Students hailed the efforts of the state government for showing keen interest in developing modern facilities at the college including auditorium , Conference hall, Cultural hall, Debate hall and also modern library. JandK, since being converted into a union territory last year following the abrogation of Article 370, is seeing development works picking up speed.
A Rajouri boy, Ashfaq Mehmood Choudhary launched a file sharing app namely 'Dodo Drop' which is an alternative of Chinese based ShareIt app. 'Dodo Drop' has a transfer rate of up to 480 Mbps which is even faster than the ShareIt app and is quite easy to use. Data comprising of photos, videos, audios, apps, texts can be transferred between devices (Android, iOS, or Desktop) with no internet access. The transfers are fully encrypted and secure.
Ahead of Raksha Bandhan, young daughters and sisters from northeastern states on August 02 tied rakhi to jawans who serve in border areas of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh. It was an expression of their solidarity, love and gratitude towards Indian Armed personnel.
Uttarakhand's Valley of Flowers, a UNESCO World Heritage site, has been opened for tourists by the state government. Tourists have to show their 72-hour old COVID-19 negative report to enter the valley. Joshimath SDM, Anil Chanyal, said "Tourists from outside the state also allowed. They need to upload their COVID-19 negative certificate 72 hours prior to their visit."
Uttarakhand Congress MLA Harish Dhami had a narrow escape after he slipped and fell into a flooded rivulet in Dharchula area of Pithoragarh. MLA Harish Dhami, however, escaped with minor injuries after party workers and supporters accompanying him swiftly got him out of the rivulet. The incident happened when the MLA was returning after visiting a flood hit village. The water level suddenly and the MLA lost control and fell. Dhami was given first aid by some Army personnel who were deputed nearby. The water is filled with thick muck and debris due to the landslides in the area, which makes it very dangerous for locals as well. The hill state has witnessed heavy rainfall in the last couple of weeks leading to landslides and flooded rivulets. Several temporary bridges have also been destroyed leading due to the swelling rivulets. Disaster relief teams have been working on overdrive to help people affected by floods and landslides across the state. Following the Nagaland govt's order to ban trading of dogs and also the sale of both 'cooked and uncooked' dog-meat, a hot debate has come up. While regarded as a welcome move, battle-lines were also drawn, as it received criticism in equal measure, largely on grounds of infringement on people's dietary practices. While pet lovers welcomed the decision saying that the Nagas can survive without dog meat, others viewed it as "nonsensical which would only drive the dog-meat trade underground like the failed Nagaland Liquor Prohibition Act." "I am a pet lover and so I don't eat dog meat. However, the government should have a wider consultation in a democratic way. But they hastily took the decision," Gugu Haralu, a social activist. Many people also raised concerns in social media saying, "Cruelty to animals is bad. There has to be ethical norms in place but outsiders policing and coercing the diet of native and indigenous people is problematic."
