3 more states join 'One Nation One Ration Card' scheme: JP Nadda
Saturday, 1 August 2020 BJP chief JP Nadda on Saturday said that three more states - Manipur, Nagaland, Uttarakhand - along with the UT of J&K have joined the 'One Nation One Ration Card' scheme of the Centre. Nadda congratulated PM Modi and Union minister Ram Vilas Paswan for the move. Paswan had earlier said that this facility had been started in 12 states in the country.

The '69th Senior National Volleyball (Men and Women) Championships' started at Biju Patnaik Indoor Stadium in Bhubaneswar on March 05. Over 1200 volleyball players (both men and women) are participating in the tournament from 28 states and 8 Union Territories. For the first time, players from Union Territory Ladakh also participated in the championships. The Championships are being held under the aegis of the parent body Volleyball Federation of India (VFI). The tournament started on Mar 05 and will end on Mar 11.

As a mark of showing solidarity with the people of Myanmar protesting for their democratic rights who are under violent suppression by the military, a candlelight vigil was organized by citizens of Dimapur on Sunday evening. The vigil was held on March 7 at Supermarket Dimapur from 7 pm onwards organized by like-minded people who have concern for the people of Myanmar, who had lost their democratic rights. The National Handloom Expo (NHE) commenced on March 5 at Urban Haat in Dimapur. Amid skyrocketing prices of petrol and diesel in the country, Nagaland became the fifth state to provide relief to consumers. The state government reduced petrol tax from 29.8% to 25%, or Rs 18.26 to Rs 16.04 per litre, whichever is higher. The tax on diesel was reduced from 17.5% to 16.5%, or Rs 11.08 to Rs 10.51 per litre, whichever is higher. Earlier, West Bengal, Assam, Rajasthan, and Meghalaya had announced fuel relief. The 16th Women State Level Polo Tournament and 4th Junior Boy's Under 16 State Level Polo Tournament 2020-21 is underway in Manipur. The tournament which began on March 1 is being organized by the All Manipur Polo Association (AMPA) at AMFA Iroisemba Kangjeibung in Imphal. It has been for the first time and a historic moment for All Manipur Polo Association to conduct a tournament in its polo ground after nearly 60 years of possession. The association had given hard effort in leveling the ground for the conduction of the tournament. The women's tournament is being played by 4 teams while the Junior Boy's tournament has 7 teams. Manipur has about two dozen women professional polo players representing two-thirds of all women polo players in the country. The tournament will conclude on March 7.
