BJP picks Sushil Modi for Bihar Rajya Sabha byelection
Friday, 27 November 2020 BJP has picked Sushil Modi for Rajya Sabha by-elections from Bihar. Modi's election to the Upper House is all but certain as the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance has a majority in the state assembly. Election to the seat is due for December 14 if the rival alliance led by the RJD decides to contest.
Farmers of Punjab's Jalandhar have shown a full support to agriculture reform bills passed by the central government. They have welcomed the farm sector reform bills that were passed in the Rajya Sabha. According to them, the bills are advantageous for farming and will resolve the existing issues....

RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav and his mother Rabri Devi visited Ranchi's RIMS hospital to check on jailed party chief Lalu Yadav's health. Lalu Prasad Yadav, whose health condition deteriorated, has been diagnosed with lung infection. Prasad's elder daughter and Rajya Sabha MP Misa Bharti reached Ranchi and met her father. Senior party leaders from the state were also seen making a beeline at the hospital. "Our family wants better treatment for him. Doctors to analyse what treatments can be provided here after all test reports come. He has already undergone heart surgery earlier and only 25% of his kidney is functional. He has also been diagnosed with pneumonia and he is facing difficulty in breathing. His situation is serious," Tejashwi said. On Thursday, the jailed RJD chief's developed breathing trouble with congestion in his chest. The former Bihar chief minister has been convicted in the fodder scam cases.

BJP leader Sushil Kumar Modi on December 28 said that CM Nitish Kumar agreed to become Chief Minister of Bihar on request of Janata Dal (United), Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Vikassheel Insaan Party (VIP) leaders. He said, "Nitish Kumar didn't want to be the Chief Minister (of Bihar). BJP and JDU leaders told him that we fought the poll on his name and vision and said that people had voted for him. In the end, he accepted to become the Chief Minister on request of JDU, BJP and VIP leaders." On JD (U) MLAs joining BJP in Arunachal Pradesh, Sushil Modi said, "Leaders of JD (U) have said that whatever has happened in Arunachal Pradesh will not affect the alliance in Bihar and Bihar government. BJP-JD(U) alliance in Bihar is unbreakable. The government will work for 5 years under the guidance of Nitish Kumar."
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and former Bihar deputy chief minister Sushil Modi filed his nomination for Rajya Sabha by-election as an NDA (National Democratic Alliance) candidate in Patna on December 02. He was accompanied by Bihar CM Nitish Kumar. He said, "Sushil Modi has our full support." Voting for Rajya Sabha by-election is scheduled on December 14. The seat was left vacant after demise of Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) leader and former union minister Ram Vilas Paswan.

JDU leader KC Tyagi lashed out at the BJP over the defection of 6 JDU MLAs to the BJP in Arunachal Pradesh. ‘We express anguish over six JD (U) MLAs from Arunachal Pradesh joining BJP. Ailing Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Lalu Prasad Yadav was airlifted to Delhi from Jharkhand's Ranchi. He was brought in the national capital's All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) on January 23. Lalu Yadav was referred from Ranchi's Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) on the advice of state medical board.
