EC to soon begin mock trials for remote voting: CEC

Mock trails for remote voting facility for electors would begin soon, Chief Election Commissioner Sunil Arora has said. In his message to mark the 11th National Voters' Day, he said a research project on remote voting using cutting-edge technology has already begun.

Amid state polls, new Chief Election Commissioner Sushil Chandra takes charge

Halfway through the West Bengal Assembly polls, the Election Commission of India has got a new chief. On April 13, Sushil Chandra took charge as the 24th CEC, succeeding Sunil Arora. On the latter's last day in office, the EC barred Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee from campaigning for 24 hours. Chandra became an Election Commissioner in 2019, ahead of the Lok Sabha polls.
