NDA's northeast allies oppose Uniform Civil Code: 'It will curb rights'
NDA's allies in the northeast have opposed a Uniform Civil Code, saying it will curb freedoms and rights in a region with 200-odd culturally diverse tribes. Meghalaya CM Conrad Sangma said, "UCC goes against the actual idea of India itself" while NDPP declared Saturday that it will adversely impact "minority communities and tribal people of India".
