Monsoon 2nd half likely to be normal despite weak rains in August: IMD
IMD said rainfall in August-September was likely to be normal - 94% to 106% of long period average (LPA) - but in the lower end of the range. In August, he said countrywide rainfall is expected to be below-normal at around 92% of LPA. The forecast indicates normal to above-normal rain in many parts of east and northeast India - where the rain deficit is high - east-central India and most places along the Himalayas.
