Opposition climbs down over discussion on Manipur in Rajya Sabha, but government not in a hurry
Friday, 4 August 2023 The opposition, which had been demanding since the start of the monsoon session of Parliament on July 20 that the Manipur violence should be discussed under Rule 267 has piped down. It had also demanded that Prime Minister Narendra Modi should make the opening remarks which will be followed by the discussion. However, now they are ready for a short duration discussion under Rule 176. They have also done away with their demand over the PM initiating the discussion. They have now offered a middle path.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal challenged Prime Minister Narendra Modi by announcing his intention to visit the BJP headquarters with AAP leaders, daring the PM to arrest them all. This exchange follows the arrest of Kejriwal's aide, Bibhav Kumar, accused of assaulting Swati Maliwal, former DCW chief, who alleged the attack occurred during a visit to Kejriwal's residence. Police are investigating the incident, with Kumar expressing willingness to cooperate and also lodging a complaint against an AAP Rajya Sabha MP.
