Despite rain deficit, kharif sown area to cross 'normal' mark

Acreage of kharif (summer sown) crops, which has already crossed last year's corresponding figure for paddy as well as the total sown area, is now expected to cross even the threshold of 'normal' (average of last five years) acreage in the next few days.
