Madhya Pradesh high court acquits 3 Lt Colonels in 24-year-old 'oil corruption' case

IndiaTimes Tuesday, 19 September 2023
The Madhya Pradesh high court has overturned the conviction of five Indian Army personnel and the owner of a private firm in a corruption case dating back 24 years. The case involved the alleged purchase of adulterated edible oil for an Army supply depot in Jabalpur. The court held that while there may have been minor lapses in the purchase, a public servant cannot be prosecuted for every act of omission or negligence. The convictions were set aside as the prosecution failed to prove its case against the defendants.
