Assam CM’s wife registers Rs 10-cr defamation suit against Congress MP

Riniki Bhuyan Sarma, the wife of Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, has filed a defamation suit against Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi for false allegations regarding a food processing project. The suit claims Rs 10 crore in damages and denies any application for subsidy. The controversy arose after allegations were made that agricultural land was reclassified as industrial land after being purchased by Sarma's company. Gogoi had accused Sarma and his wife of corruption in obtaining government subsidies for the project. The case will be moved on September 26.
