Terrorists sponsor Canada visas, woo youths into ranks
Tuesday, 26 September 2023 Indian intelligence sources have revealed that pro-Khalistan elements in Canada, including slain terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar, have been establishing a "pro-Khalistan brigade" by sponsoring visas for young Punjab youths. These individuals are brought in under the guise of medium-skilled jobs or religious duties in gurdwaras controlled by the pro-Khalistan elements. Many of these youths are then drawn into the separatist movement and used to organize anti-India protests and radical-religious congregations. The Canadian government's alleged lack of action against these elements has allowed their influence to grow, resulting in intimidation of Hindus and threats against their temples.
New Delhi on Monday summoned Canadian Deputy High Commissioner over raising of separatist slogans on 'Khalistan' at an event attended by Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, underlining that it impacts the relations between the two countries and encourages "climate of violence".
