Andhra Pradesh posts 13% deficient rainfall this monsoon

IndiaTimes Saturday, 30 September 2023
Andhra Pradesh experienced a 13% rainfall deficit during this year's monsoon season, deviating from the trend of above-normal rainfall in the previous four years. The monsoon arrived late, and the state received 454.6 mm of rainfall, which is 13% less than the normal average. Seven districts faced rainfall deficits ranging from 20 to 34%, while only one district had excess rainfall. The monsoon witnessed fluctuations in rainfall patterns, with some areas receiving good rainfall and others experiencing weaker precipitation. The sparse rainfall in June and August may affect crop yields, but heavy rains in July and September helped balance the deficit.
