Sikkim flash floods: HAM operators help 140 stranded student campers travel to Siliguri
Friday, 6 October 2023 A group of 140 Bharat Scouts & Guides members and 12 Surat tourists were rescued from West Sikkim with the help of amateur radio operators in Bengal. The group had been stranded due to adverse weather conditions and damaged roads. The operators managed to arrange transportation for them through lesser-known tracks, ensuring their safe arrival in Darjeeling and Siliguri. The radio club members formed a network and navigated the vehicles through difficult terrains to reach their destinations.
In the aftermath of devastating flash floods in Sikkim, search and rescue operations are in full swing as the Indian Army, alongside NDRF teams, grapples with the challenging task of locating missing individuals and providing aid to those stranded.
