Track fault caused Bihar train accident, engineering dept to blame, says report

A preliminary investigation report states that a fault in the track caused 23 coaches of the North East Express to derail in Bihar, India, resulting in four deaths and injuries to around 60 passengers. The report holds the railway engineering department responsible for the fault. The train had just passed a crossing when it experienced immense vibration and a heavy jerk, leading to the derailment. The railway incurred a loss of Rs 52.1 crore due to the accident.
