4% hike in DA for central government staff; bonus for railway staff

Indian government has approved a 4% increase in dearness allowance and dearness relief for central government employees and pensioners. This will cost the government Rs 12,857 crore. Additionally, railway employees will receive a productivity linked bonus equivalent to 78 days' wages. The increase in allowance follows the recommendations of the 7th Central Pay Commission. The additional cash in the hands of government employees ahead of the festive season is expected to boost the circular economy.
