Maratha quota activist ends life on BKC bridge in Mumbai

IndiaTimes Thursday, 19 October 2023
A 45-year-old Maratha quota activist from Jalna, Sunil Kawale, committed suicide by hanging himself from a bridge in Mumbai. He left a suicide note urging the Maratha community to fight for Maratha reservation. This is the third suicide related to the quota issue since August. Maratha Kranti Morcha coordinator, Vinod Patil, stated that this was not the right way to demand their rights. The government has announced financial aid and a job for Kawale's family. Another activist, Manoj Jarange-Patil, has set an October 24 deadline for the government to grant reservation to Marathas.
