MP polls: From sidelines to frontlines, charge of old brigade in BJP’s fifth list

IndiaTimes Sunday, 22 October 2023
The ruling BJP in Madhya Pradesh has announced its fifth list of 92 candidates for the upcoming assembly election. The party has made exceptions to its age and family-related rules, fielding elderly politicians and children of ministers and MLAs. This move comes as the BJP faces its toughest assembly election in two decades. The party has also dropped 29 sitting legislators and introduced two dozen new faces, including women candidates. The list was released after meetings of the BJP Central Election Committee headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
