IAS coaching centres face action for ‘unethical’ success rate claim
Monday, 23 October 2023
Several major IAS coaching institutes in India have been found to inflate their "success rate" in UPSC examinations by showcasing students who only took mock interviews at their centers and not the full course. The Central Consumer Protection Authority (CCPA) has issued notices to 17 institutes for misleading advertisements and imposed fines on three others. The CCPA stated that these misleading ads influence aspiring candidates' decision-making and has asked the institutes to substantiate their claims and provide honest disclosures about the courses taken by successful students.
