Red light on, gaadi off back in action in Delhi from today

The Delhi government will launch a "Red Light On, Gaadi Off" campaign to tackle pollution by encouraging motorists to switch off their engines at traffic lights. Environment Minister Gopal Rai stated that the campaign had shown positive results worldwide and would not disrupt daily life. The government is also promoting electric vehicles and conducting regular pollution certificate checks. The campaign will begin on October 26 and will be implemented across all 70 assembly constituencies by November 2. The effectiveness of the campaign was previously questioned, but Rai cited studies showing a significant increase in motorists turning off their engines at red lights after the campaign was introduced.
