Government taking India's economy to defaulter era by distributing freebies to cronies: Kharge's jibe at PM Modi

IndiaTimes Saturday, 28 October 2023
Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of taking India's economy to a "defaulter era" by giving freebies to cronies. He alleged that the government wrote off Rs 14.56 lakh crore NPAs in the last 9 financial years and helped economic offenders like Nirav Modi and Vijay Mallya. Kharge also criticized the government for refusing to waive off farmers' loans but obliging moneybag cronies. The Congress has been critical of the government's handling of the economy, unemployment, inflation, and NPAs.

LS Polls 2024: Delhi Congress chief Arvinder Lovely resigns, cites interference by leader | Oneindia

Arvinder Singh Lovely, the Delhi Congress chief, tendered his resignation on Sunday, citing significant interference by the party's general secretary in-charge and the contentious alliance with the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in Delhi. In his resignation letter addressed to Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge, Lovely expressed feeling "handicapped" and unable to effectively lead the Delhi Congress unit. Highlighting numerous instances of discord, Lovely outlined objections raised by several party leaders regarding the conduct of Deepak Babaria, the Congress's general secretary in-charge for Delhi.
