Mumbai to get direct Melbourne flights from next month

Air India will launch non-stop flights from Mumbai to Melbourne starting December 15, providing an alternative for passengers who previously had to book transit flights. The new route will operate three times a week using Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner aircraft. With this addition, weekly flights between India and Australia will increase from 22 to 25. India is the fourth largest source of visitors to Australia, with Melbourne being the most popular arrival port. The new flights will benefit the Indian community in Victoria, which represents about 40% of the Indian diaspora in Australia.
