Karnataka: Opposition grows within BJP, Cong over poaching

IndiaTimes Wednesday, 1 November 2023
Loyalists in the Congress and BJP parties in Karnataka have voiced their opposition to the practice of inducing defections. They argue that the influx of outsiders into their parties will limit opportunities for loyal members. The trend has revived the debate of 'insider vs outsider' politics, particularly within the Congress party. Both parties have been accused of engaging in 'Operation Kamala' and 'Operation Hastha' to poach MLAs from opposing parties. Some members are calling for party leadership to discourage such practices.
