Gurgaon vegetable seller turns cyber scammer, nets Rs 21 crore in 6 months

A 27-year-old man in Gurgaon, India, was arrested for conning people out of Rs 21 crore ($2.8 million) through work-from-home scams. The man, Rishabh Sharma, had been involved in 37 cases of fraud across 10 states and aided in 855 others. He allegedly worked for international cartels and funneled the money to countries like China, Singapore, and Hong Kong through hawala and cryptocurrency. Sharma started committing frauds only six months ago and earned most of his money through commissions from these gangs.
