Madhya Pradesh polls: In 2018 polls, postal ballots played vital role in 10 seats

IndiaTimes Saturday, 4 November 2023
Postal votes played a crucial role in determining the outcome of several constituencies in the 2018 state elections in India. The victory margin between Congress and BJP candidates was less than 1000 votes in 10 constituencies, with Congress winning 7 and BJP securing 3 seats. In most cases, the candidate who received more postal ballot votes emerged as the winner. Postal ballots proved to be decisive in constituencies like Gwalior South and Suwasra, where the winning margin was extremely narrow.
