Supreme court seeks updated status report on Punjab government's plea against governor's delay in nod to bills

The Supreme Court has directed Solicitor General Tushar Mehta to provide an updated status report on the action taken by Punjab Governor Banwarilal Purohit regarding the bills passed by the Assembly. The court emphasized that governors should act on bills before they reach the Supreme Court, and urged them to reflect on their role as non-elected representatives. The matter will be heard on November 10, with the governor's recent approval of two bills already noted. Purohit's previous withholding of approval for three money bills was deemed unlawful by the governor.
