Zanzibar IIT campus kicks off 1st semester
The IIT-Madras's Zanzibar campus, the first offshore campus of any IIT, was inaugurated on Monday by the country's President, Hussein Ali Mwinyi. At least 50% of the students in the first batch are Indians, while 40% are women. "The campus has started in its first semester with students from countries including Zanzibar, India, Nepal and Tanzania Mainland. A total of 45 students have been admitted for a four-year bachelor of science degree in data science and AI and a two-year master of technology degree in data science and AI," said V Kamakoti, director, IIT-M.
