18% increase in literacy rate in 12 years, finds study

The Bihar Caste Survey report presented in the state assembly shows a significant increase of 18% in literacy rate in the past 12 years. The overall literacy rate in Bihar now stands at 79.7%, with males at 84.9% and females at 73.9%. The report also highlights the literacy rates among different caste categories, with general category at 17.4% and 14% at primary and higher secondary levels respectively. The extremely backward castes, SCs, and STs also show impressive literacy rates at both levels. Additionally, the report reveals that every community in Bihar owns six-wheelers.
