Married man living in with another woman is bigamy: Punjab and Haryana high court
Tuesday, 14 November 2023 The Punjab and Haryana High Court has ruled that a couple living together without divorcing their previous spouses does not qualify as a "live-in relationship" or a form of marriage. The court stated that this constitutes the offence of bigamy under sections 494/495 of the Indian Penal Code. The court dismissed a petition filed by a couple seeking security, noting that the male partner was already married and had a child. The court deemed the allegations of threats to their lives as unsubstantiated.
