IndiaTimes Tuesday, 14 November 2023
The Indian Army and Indian Air Force successfully facilitated the return of 39 Myanmarese military personnel who sought refuge in Mizoram after fleeing rebel resistance groups in their country. The personnel were flown in batches from Mizoram to Manipur, avoiding the need for IAF helicopters to enter Myanmar airspace. The Myanmar army personnel had surrendered to Mizoram police and were handed over to Assam Rifles. Three additional personnel were captured by Mizoram police and are expected to be repatriated to Myanmar soon.
