Karnataka electricity distribution company files case against ex-CM HD Kumaraswamy for power theft

IndiaTimes Wednesday, 15 November 2023
Bescom, the electricity distribution company in Bengaluru, has filed a complaint against former Karnataka CM HD Kumaraswamy for power theft. Bescom's vigilance committee filed the complaint under the Indian Electricity Act after a video clip circulated showing an "unauthorised" electricity connection at Kumaraswamy's residence. Kumaraswamy admitted to the mistake and said he immediately disconnected the power when he found out. Chief minister Siddaramaiah stated that power theft is wrong, even more so when those in responsible positions are involved.
