The Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra, a nationwide initiative to inform and empower citizens about the Centre's flagship schemes, began in Tawang, Arunachal Pradesh. The campaign, launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, reached over one lakh people across 259 Gram Panchayats on its first day. The aim of the Yatra is to generate awareness about government welfare schemes and achieve 100% saturation. It marks a significant step in empowering citizens to become active stakeholders in the country's development.

Polling in 102 parliamentary seats across 21 states and Union Territories in the first phase of Lok Sabha Elections commenced at 7 am on April 19 and ended at 6 pm. Over 102 parliamentary constituencies in 21 states and union territories headed to the polling booth on Friday, including Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Rajasthan, Sikkim, Tamil Nadu, Tripura, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, West Bengal, Jammu and Kashmir, Puducherry, Lakshadweep, and Andaman and Nicobar Islands. West Bengal recorded the highest turnout till 5 PM at 77.57 per cent, followed by Tripura at 76.10 per cent.
