2,000 troopers trek 105km to Maharashtra Maoist den, erect police outpost in 24 hrs

IndiaTimes Tuesday, 21 November 2023
More than 2,000 security personnel have built a police outpost in Wangeturi village on the Maharashtra-Chhattisgarh border to disrupt the supply route of Maoist guerrillas. This operation involved a 105km road-opening mission on foot, marking the first time forces have crossed into Maharashtra from Chhattisgarh in a joint operation. The outpost will serve as a base camp for joint operations by Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh security forces, as well as help in building infrastructure in the area. Security has also been tightened at check posts on the Tamil Nadu-Kerala border to prevent Maoist infiltration.
