10 years on, SC faults Himachal Pradesh judge appointments, also offers relief

The Supreme Court has ruled that the appointment of judicial officers in Himachal Pradesh was illegal as they were recruited over and above the advertised vacancies. However, the court has decided not to remove them from their positions, stating that it would not be in the public interest. The court clarified that appointments can only be made for advertised vacancies, and any other vacancies should be considered for future selection processes. The case involved the recruitment of candidates for the post of Civil Judge in 2013.
