MP court gives 2-year RI to doctor for prenatal gender tests

A Jabalpur court has sentenced a doctor to two years of rigorous imprisonment for holding prenatal gender determination tests. The convict, Dr P C Minocha, is the director of a sonography centre. The Jabalpur chief medical and health officer (CMHO) registered a case against the doctor after a state-level team inspected sonography centres in Jabalpur on February 13, 2017. The health officials found that Minocha’s centre hadn’t kept complete records of all the women who had undergone sonography tests.
