Must welcome new ways to administer justice: Attorney General
Sunday, 26 November 2023 The Attorney General appeals to both the Executive and the Judiciary to adopt new approaches to justice administration. Governments should be open-minded and courts should be sensitive to the complexities of governance. The adversarial system disproportionately affects the poor and marginalized, so there is a need for legal reforms. The government is working on a litigation management policy to address these issues.
On April 28, the Election Commission of India (ECI) directed the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) to revise the content of its Lok Sabha campaign song to adhere to the Advertising Codes outlined in the Cable Television Network Rules, 1994, and ECI guidelines. The AAP was requested to make necessary modifications to the song and resubmit it for certification. “The phrase “jail ke jawaab me hum vote denge” showing an aggressive mob holding the photo of Arvind Kejriwal showing him behind bars, casts aspersions on the Judiciary. Further, the said phrase appears several times in the advertisement which contravenes the provisions of ECI Guidelines and Rule 6(1(g) of Programme and Advertising Codes prescribed under the Cable Television Network Rules, 1994” (DISPLAY) said ECI.
