Centre approves 97 more Tejas fighters, 156 Prachand choppers procurement in mega defence boost
Thursday, 30 November 2023 The defence ministry approves capital acquisition proposals worth Rs 2.23 lakh crore, including 97 Tejas fighters, 156 Prachand helicopters, and upgrade of Sukhoi-30MKI jets. Acceptance of necessity (AoN) granted for artillery towed gun systems, area denial munitions, and anti-ship missiles. 98% of the acquisitions will be sourced from domestic industries. The next DAC meeting will discuss the second indigenous aircraft carrier. The upgrade of Sukhoi-MKI fighters and delivery of Tejas Mark-1A jets are also planned.
