‘Dead’ man in Uttarakhand found alive ‘re-christened’ and then ‘remarried’

IndiaTimes Saturday, 2 December 2023
A 42-year-old man, Naveen Chandra Bhatt, from Sripur Bichwa in Khatima town, who was mistakenly presumed dead and cremated, was rechristened and remarried to his wife. His family performed all the rituals again, from naming ceremony to 'janeu sanskar', to consider his rebirth. The ceremonies were conducted by AB Joshi, a priest, who explained that since the post-death rituals had already begun, all the sacred rituals had to be performed again. Naveen is now known as Narayan Bhatt, although this name is only for religious purposes.
