Delhi woman loses Rs 6 lakh to fraud she met on matrimonial site

A 32-year-old woman was allegedly defrauded of Rs 6 lakh by a man who posed on a matrimonial website as a merchant navy officer working in Sweden. The woman began interacting with the man named Pradeep Kumar Thakur on September 15. He claimed to have plans to settle down in India with his mother and 5-year-old daughter. He asked about her work and said he would settle in Delhi accordingly. They exchanged numbers and communicated on WhatsApp. The man claimed to be sailing in the Baltic Sea and said that his ship would reach Portugal before he traveled to India.
