With 5 crimes per hour, Bengaluru worst among southern metros

Bengaluru's crime rate in 2022 reached alarming levels with at least five crimes reported every hour. The city saw a significant increase in total crimes, reaching 46,187, a 27% rise from the previous year. The majority of crimes were under the Indian Penal Code, including thefts and cases of hurt. Additionally, Bengaluru faced serious crimes such as rapes, murders, and attempted murders on a daily basis. The city also witnessed a high number of cybercrimes, with over 10,000 cases reported, highlighting the need for increased security measures.
