Engrs 64% of those picked for civil services in 2017-21

Engineers dominate All India Civil Services, making up 63.6% of successful candidates from 2017 to 2021. They opt for subjects like political science, international relations, and sociology. Women constitute 24% to 28% of selected candidates. Around 76% of recommended candidates are from the science stream, while only 23.6% are from humanities. Political science and international relations are the most preferred optional subjects, followed by sociology and geography. Over 76% of successful candidates hold bachelor degrees.
