Friday, 8 December 2023 Three terror suspects were arrested in Jammu and Kashmir’s Reasi district and unaccounted cash was seized from them, officials said Friday, adding that the money was likely meant to fund acts of terror in the Union Territory. Acting on a tip-off, a joint team of the Army and police intercepted an SUV heading to Mahore in Reasi district and apprehended the trio. The arrests followed the apprehension of two overground workers in Budhal on December 6 and the subsequent seizure of a cache of arms and ammunition from a nearby forest.

Over 102 parliamentary constituencies in 21 states and union territories headed to the polling booth on Friday, including Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Rajasthan, Sikkim, Tamil Nadu, Tripura, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, West Bengal, Jammu and Kashmir, Puducherry, Lakshadweep, and Andaman and Nicobar Islands. West Bengal recorded the highest turnout till 5 PM at 77.57 per cent, followed by Tripura at 76.10 per cent. Voter turnout in Assam stood at 70.77 per cent, while Manipur recorded a voter turnout of 68.58 per cent till 5 PM.
