Supreme Court ruling seen as vindication of PM Modi's focus on J&K integration
Monday, 11 December 2023 Narendra Modi defied terrorists' threats and unfurled the tricolour at Lal Chowk during the Ekta Yatra in 1992. This incident intensified his resolve to revoke J&K's special status. Modi's engagement with J&K began during his years as an RSS pracharak and BJP functionary. Despite his hardline response against terrorists, he remained sensitive to the genuine problems of people. Understanding the public mood, Modi visited J&K and interacted with locals to gauge sentiments before nullifying Article 370 in 2019.
Prime Minister Modi on Monday termed the Supreme Court verdict on the abrogation of Article 370 as “historic”. Modi said the verdict is a “resounding declaration of hope, progress, unity for our sisters and brothers in J&K, Ladakh”.
