Sunday, 17 December 2023
A Bengal government wing has flagged the risks of indiscriminately injecting antibiotics in poultry, which could give rise to multidrug-resistant bacteria in humans who consume such birds. In recent times, humans have developed serious resistance to more than 20 antibiotics, leading to bacterial infections becoming a major problem. A recent study found residues of antibiotics in chicken samples and high resistance against certain antibiotics in hospitals. The indiscriminate use of antibiotics is the primary reason for this issue.
