Why no government home for patients out of mental hospital: Bombay high court

IndiaTimes Sunday, 17 December 2023
The Bombay high court criticizes the lack of coordination between state government departments regarding three patients who could not be reunited with their families. The patients, certified as not requiring continuous monitoring in a mental health institution, are still in violation of their rights under the Mental Healthcare Act. The court heard a PIL regarding patients languishing in mental hospitals despite recovery. The request to shift the patients to a halfway home has not progressed due to lack of coordination between departments.
