Lok Sabha passes bill related to unauthorised buildings in Delhi

The Lok Sabha passed a bill to extend protection to unauthorised developments in Delhi, with BJP MPs accusing the AAP dispensation of not doing enough. The Bill provides protection to certain forms of unauthorised developments in Delhi till 2026. Union housing and urban affairs minister Hardeep Singh Puri stated that there has been a large influx of people into Delhi from rural areas, leading to unauthorised construction. South Delhi MP Ramesh Bidhuri alleged that both the Congress and AAP have misled the people on the issue.

On April 28, the Election Commission of India (ECI) directed the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) to revise the content of its Lok Sabha campaign song to adhere to the Advertising Codes outlined in the Cable Television Network Rules, 1994, and ECI guidelines. The AAP was requested to make necessary modifications to the song and resubmit it for certification. “The phrase “jail ke jawaab me hum vote denge” showing an aggressive mob holding the photo of Arvind Kejriwal showing him behind bars, casts aspersions on the Judiciary.
