Kalwa hosp deaths: Panel flags lapses by dean, 5 docs

A high-level committee investigated the sudden spike in patient deaths at Kalwa's Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Hospital in August. The committee found lapses in the functioning of six staffers, including the then acting dean, Dr Rakesh Barot. The Thane Municipal Corporation has started issuing notices to the six individuals. The report highlighted the absence of two professors and two junior doctors in their departments, as well as supervisory lapses. The committee's report was formally submitted to the urban development department and the Thane Municipal Corporation.
