ED arrests aide of Bengal minister Jyotipriya Mallick in ration scam

An aide of Bengal minister Jyotipriya Mallick, who is jailed in a ration scam, was arrested amidst protests and dramatic scenes. The arrest of TMC's Shankar Adhya, a former chairman of the Bongaon municipality, was met with resistance from his supporters. The ED officers seized Rs 8.5 lakh in alleged unaccounted cash from Adhya's home. Adhya is accused of helping Mallick launder money through his Full-Fledged Money Changers (FFMC) business. The ED claims that the ration scam linked to Adhya is worth at least Rs 10,000 crore.
