Can’t claim cruelty over minor fights: Kerala HC acquits man in wife’s ‘suicide’

IndiaTimes Saturday, 6 January 2024
The Kerala high court has acquitted a husband who was accused of pushing his wife to suicide as the prosecution was unable to prove the cruelty or harassment angle as the trigger. The court found no evidence of cruelty or harassment from the husband towards his wife, as there was no complaint made by the wife before her death and no evidence of ill treatment or manhandling. The prosecution also failed to produce treatment records or the doctor who treated the deceased, and suppressed material evidence regarding her accidental death.
